It seems strange to think we are already half way through Summer here in the west coast of Canada, but here we are. We are enjoying slowing down and the company of family. Our eighteen year old cat has been having some health issues so we’ve been giving him extra love and attention. I think sometimes we take our pets for granted, but they need us just as much as we need them. We rescued Phisher, our Norwegian Forest cat in 2012 from a local last chance shelter. He has been a much loved member of our family especially to our boys.
It’s extraordinary to think he has been with us for twelve years and it’s extra special that he will turn eighteen in August. He is the most loving, affectionate beautiful cat I’ve ever met. He drools when he’s really enjoying a good rub down. He is a cliche lap cat and demands attention from anyone who sits in his chair. It is so relaxing to hear him purr.
When he started to show symptoms of not feeling well I felt so sad to think that he might not be around much longer. We had to rush him to the vet because he had a blocked urethra. A common condition with older male cats. He has recovered well and is on a new food for urinary issues. I’m so grateful he’s feeling better.
Anyways, we are hoping he has a few good years ahead and enjoying every day with him. His sister, Phoebe, still gets jealous when we pet the cat before her. They have this hilarious jealousy of each other. If I pet the cat first, the dog literally rolls her eyes and grumbles and if I pet the dog first the cat comes over and rubs up against me meowing. It’s really entertaining and endearing.
Well, we hope you all enjoy the rest of the Summer! I’m looking forward to picking blackberries, eating pie, swimming, long dog walks at the river, and cat naps with Phisher and Phoebe-Bear. We are truly blessed to have these creatures in our lives.

Celene & Phoebe-Bear and Phisher cat too!
